Welcome to Pinki’s Palate! I am so glad you’ve visited this blog and hope that you’ll leave with some inspiration and guidance to living a healthy, compassionate lifestyle–through diet, exercise, faith, adventure, or relationships.
This blog is created to inspire not only Jains, but anyone interested in pursuing a healthy, compassionate lifestyle through a plant-based diet.
I started cooking and creating these recipes during my sophomore year in college. I dedicate this blog to my mom for all her cooking inspiration (and nicknaming me “Pinki”). Even more so, she has blessed my siblings and me by not only nourishing my family with a completely Jain diet, but educating us to understand why we should follow it, and teaching us the benefits of mindfulness.
Growing up Jain in the United States is no doubt, a challenge. But I believe that with the right faith, right knowledge, and right conduct, any challenge can be overcome. Over the years, I have noticed the lack of resources for easy, nutritious Jain recipes. I have also experienced that as we get older, our lives only seem to get busier. For these two reasons, I have developed recipes that incorporate wholesome nutritional value, simple instructions, and minimal time.
Cooking is both scientific and artistic. Most of my recipes have been the result of countless experiments and inspiration from food lovers. My dream is to someday write my own cookbook.
Is there a dish you really love and want to know how to turn Jain? I am always willing to experiment and open to any suggestions, so leave a comment or send me a message to share what you want to see on Pinki’s Palate!
